About
A teacher, a leader, thinks beyond the walls of their classroom.
Lauren grew up in the Hudson Valley, in New York State where she was an outdoor kid - spending most of her time with her brothers in Harriman State Park adjacent to the Appalachian trail. Being outdoors reminds her that she is a part of something larger than herself; a feeling which is important to her. Participating in athletics and service also met this need while growing up. As an adult the same need motivates her work, as well as her personal interests.
If you run into lauren off campus, you’ll find her listening to a punk-indie band you’ve never heard of, at one of the many vegetarian food-spots in Baltimore (looking at you, Johnny Rad’s and Dangerously Delicious Pies), rooting for the Orioles with her family, parenting a precocious two-and-half year old, and running around Baltimore, literally. She has completed 7 marathons, including the Baltimore Marathon and the Marine Corps Marathon in D.C., twice. Lauren also volunteers with her local community improvement association, and with the Circle for Restorative Initiatives, Maryland.
